Our Tamil Nadu science Forum and Tirunelveli District Science Centre were jointly organised this summer program for children, from April 30th to May 4th.
128 children from 16 districts of Tamilnadu were participated in the program, including 8 children (5 girls & 3 boys) from our Salem District.
Our journey started from Salem New Bus stand on 29th April at 10:00 pm and reached Tirunelveli at 7:00 am.
After a brief refreshment at Navajeevan trust hall in Tirunelveli, an introduction was given to the children about the ஐந்திணை program.
We were brought to the District Science Centre in Tirunelveli. Children enjoyed well with scientific structures, fun spots and experimental instruments placed in that campus.
An inaugural function was held at at the auditorium of the Science Centre.
After that, children were separated into three groups, namely குறிஞ்சி, முல்லை, மருதம்...
After taking lunch in Tirunelveli, we started our journey to a coastal village Manapadu. On the way to Manapadu beach, we were shown deserted lands at Therikadu in Thoothukudi district.
In Manapadu village, we visited a church and took bath at the sea. Children discussed with the fishermen of the area. They gained wide-knowledge about the fishing community, fishing structures and about their lifestyle.
Children travelled to their villages allotted to them.

மருதம் - சுந்தர பாண்டியபுரம்
I was with the team of SundaraPandiaPuram for மருதம் team. Our team reached Sundarapandiapuram at about 11 p.m.
Children were sent to their pair's house, to stay with them for the next 2 days. In these days, children visited local Temples, understood their festive methods, food style, language, culture and about the common habits of the area.
In the look-around tour of the village, children visited their fishing pond, local Primary Health Centre and farming lands. Children took a bath in the farm-well.
4th day, we all gathered again at Sadhana Vidyalaya School at Bala ArunachalaPuram.
Some eminent speakers explained about land types, livelihood, historical evidence, present modifications etc. Children shared their 2-days-experience in the 3 different habitats.
In the evening, one public awareness program was arranged near Kadayanallur bus stand. Kadayanallur MLA kickstarted a rally, there. Students' cultural program, magic show, astronomical lecture, fun-story telling were performed.
Next day, in the felicitation event, children were appraised for their active participation of the program. Children were awarded with medals & certificates.
After a brief visit to Courtallam, we returned back to Tenkasi to catch the bus to Salem. We reached Salem at 2:45 am and reached ATTUR at 5:00 am.

Our special thanks to Mr G. Suresh of our TNSF Salem Dt, for providing a complete First-Aid kit containg medicines and medical care products. He provided us, note-pads & pens for everyone.
