To identify scientific skills in students and bring out their talents to participate in the National Children Science Congress (NCSC), a training programme for school teachers was conducted here on Saturday. Organised by the Tamil Nadu Science Forum, experts asked the teachers to create curiosity among students in learning science and involve themselves in experiments, by adopting scientific methodology for observation, collection of data, analyzing, arriving at conclusions and presenting their findings. Teachers were asked to encourage students in the age group 10 and 17 years to form groups and carry out projects. As many as 79 teachers from government and private schools participated. The sessions were handled by experts from educational fields. NCSC’s current year theme ‘Energy: Explore, Harness and Conserve’, and six sub themes were explained to the participants. The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and National Council for Science and Technology Communication, jointly organise the national conference every year from December 27 to 31.
