விஞ்ஞானிகள்,பல்கலைக்கழக ஆய்வறிஞர்கள், கல்லூரிப்பேராசிரியர்கள்,ஆசிரியர்கள்,அரசு&தனியார் நிறுவன அறிவியல் ஆர்வலர்கள், தொண்டர்கள்,பெண்கள்&மாணவர்களை உறுப்பினர்களாகக் கொண்டு அறிவியல் பரப்புதலை தலையாய நோக்கமாகக் கொண்டு 25 ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் மேலாக செயல்பட்டு வரும் தன்னார்வ அமைப்பாகும்.. அகில இந்திய மக்கள் அறிவியல் கூட்டமைபபின் உறுப்பினராகவும் மத்திய அரசின் தேசிய அறிவியல் தகவல் தொழில்நுட்ப பரிமாற்றக்குழுவின் உறுப்பினராகவும் உள்ளது. 1980 முதல் செயல்பட்டு வரும் TNSF தமிழகத்தின் பள்ளிக்கல்வி மற்றும் அறிவியல் பிரச்சாரத்தில் மிக முக்கிய பங்காற்றியுள்ளது. மகளிர் சுயஉதவிக்குழுக்கள், பொது சுகாதாரம்&வளர்ச்சிப்பணிகளிலும் கவனம் செலுத்தி வருகிறது. தேசிய எழுத்தறிவுத்திட்டம்,அறிவொளி திட்டச் செயல்பாடுகளை முழு ஈடுபாட்டுடன் மேற்கொண்டதன் மூலம் மாநிலம் முழுவதும் பரவலான வரவேற்பையும் பாராட்டையும் பெற்றது. கடந்த 17 ஆண்டுகளாக தேசிய குழந்தைகள் அறிவியல் மாநாட்டை ஒருங்கிணைப்பதன் மூலம் ஆயிரக்கணக்கான குழந்தைகளை எளிய அறிவியல் ஆய்வுப்பணிகளில் ஈடுபடுத்தி வருகிறது. மத்திய அரசின் தேசிய அறிவியல் & தகவல் தொழில்நுட்ப பரிமாற்றக்குழுவின் சிறந்த அறிவியல் அமைப்பிற்கான விருதையும் சிறந்த அறிவியல் வெளியீடுகளுக்காக UGC-யின் ஹரிஓம் விருதையும் சுற்றுச்சூழல் விழிபபுணர்வுக்காக தமிழக அரசின் அறிஞர் அண்ணா விருதையும் பெற்றுள்ளது.

CALL LETTER FOR PROJECTS SUBMISSION


Tamil Nadu Science Forum (TNSF) is a volunteer-based organization with Scientists, Professors and Scholars of Universities, Teachers of Colleges and Schools, Employees of Public Sectors and Volunteers of Literacy Movement as volunteers It is part of the people’s science movement in the country and also a member in NCSTC Network of NCSTC, Govt. of India.


TNSF has been active since 1980 and has been instrumental in important contributions in the field of school education and science popularization programme. It has been involved in women self help groups, people’s health and developmental issues. TNSF is widely known for its involvement in the“Literacy for All” programs of National Literacy Mission and the National Children’s Science Congress of NCSTC Network .We have been involving thousands of school children in simple science projects under National Children Science Congress. We also have regular weekly science serial programmes of Vigyan Prasar of Govt. of India through All India Radio.

TNSF was awarded with NCSTC of Govt.of India award for one of the best organistaions of Science Communication, UGC-Hari Om award for Science Publications, Arignar Anna award for environmental awareness by Tamil Nadu State, Appreciation of UNICEF for Health Improvement among rural children.
TNSF has planned to organize the Youth Science Festival for the Youth As like National Children Science Congress. The youth, graduate and post graduate students of our Nation, has to understand the Society which is being influenced and shaped by Education, Science, Technology and Developmental activities. Though this understanding is going through their formal education which needs field based studies to strengthen their understanding and hence the Youth Science Festival (YSF).
YOUTH SCIENCE FESTIVALThe first Youth Science Festival (YSF)-2009 held in Erode in 2009 was a modest beginning as a first experiment by Tamil Nadu Science Forum in our state. The 2nd Youth Science Festival-2010-11 will be held at Madurai in Feb 28, 2011,the National Science Day
Theme: Nature, Science and Society
Who are eligible to participate: Anyone in the 17 – 21 years age group
Teams: 2 to 4 persons to form a team. The team has to have a guide. The guide can be a person from scholars, teachers, social activists, etc. A college can send a maximum of 3 projects.
Objectives The primary objective of the youth science festival is to make a forum available to youths of the age group of 17-21 years, including regular college students to exhibit their creativity and innovativeness and more particularly their ability to relate science to society and the addressal of problems in society.By implication, the YSF promotes youths to make a simple study on the following areas:· Methods of education· The impact of Science and Technology· Existence and Removal of superstition· Preservation of Environment· Urbanisation and Industrialisation· Rural Development· Health and Sanitation· Women empowerment
This involves close and keen observation, raising pertinent questions, building models, predicting solutions on the basis of the models, trying out various possible alternatives and arriving at an optimum solutions using experiments, field work, research and innovative ideas. The youth science festival provides a sense of discovery, emboldens the participants of our progress and development and encourages to express their findings in Tamil or English.
FEATURES OF YOUTH SCIENCE FESTIVAL PROJECTS· Innovative, simple and practical.· Based on exploration of everyday life situations.· Involve field based data collection· Development of suitable simple technology· Have definite outputs, arrived through scientific methodology.· Have definite follow up plans.· Represent a team with a minimum of two membersand a maximum of four members.· Each project should have a guide.· At least fifty interesting projects will be selected forstate level youth festival.· Separate presentation for Health, Engineering and Technology,Science and Social Studies.· Projects will be assessed on the basis of problem chosen, presentation, data collection and analysis, experimentation, validation, problem solving attempts (including technological)and team work.· Ten projects under each category will be selected for the state levelaward.· All participants of the YSF will be appreciated with certificates.· Summary of the best projects will be published as a book byTamil Nadu Science Forum
Registration Fee: Registration fee Rs.100 for each project in favour of‘Tamil Nadu Science Forum’ payable at Madurai.
Dates to remember:· Registration on or before Dec.10th, 2010· Completed project to be sent before on or before 31st , Jan. 2011 with the following pages:1)Title of the Project with the name of Team Members, the Guide and the name of the Institution 2) Contents 3) Abstract (100 words/ 20 sentences) 4) Introduction 5) Objectives, 6)Methodology 7) Results and Discussion, 8) Suggestions 9)Acknowledgement 10) References· Selected projects will be intimated by Monday, 14th Feb. 2011· Project presentation: Feb 26-27 (Sat-Sun) 2011 at Madurai
